Development Resources inc. (DRi) would like to announce that we had recently completed a search for the American Association of University Women. Today we’re excited to congratulate Laura Segal on becoming the organization’s Senior Vice President of Communications and External Affairs.

As one of the nation’s leading nonpartisan gender equity organizations—with 170,000 members and supporters, 1,000 local branches, and more than 800 college and university partners across the United States—AAUW is dedicated to advancing equity and education for women and girls and empowering them to reach their highest potential.

To achieve this goal in the face of 21st-century challenges, AAUW recently worked with DRi to complete a CEO transition designed to steer the organization in new directions as its demographics and the public policy challenges it confronts continue to evolve. After leading the CEO search, DRi partnered with AAUW’s new CEO to redesign its senior leadership team. One of these searches placed a new Senior Vice President of Communications and External Affairs to establish AAUW as the preeminent public voice on the organization’s highest-priority equity issues and to attract and mobilize supporters through the development of a high-profile brand.

Today we congratulate Laura Segal on accepting this role. Laura brings an impressive strategic communications background and her passionate advocacy for gender equity to AAUW. She most recently built a highly influential public affairs operation at the Trust for America’s Health. She assumed her role at TFAH when it was a one-year-old start-up and built a cross-organizational approach to turn it into one of the country’s leading public health policy advocacy groups. Before moving to TFAH, Laura served in multiple federal agencies and political campaigns, including the Officer of the Secretary of Education and the Office of the Vice President.

We look forward to seeing Laura work with the full senior leadership team to build new forms of engagement in AAUW’s critical work. We congratulate Laura and AAUW and wish them great success.

(DRi) has completed an executive search partnership with Polaris, a Skoll Award-winning anti-human-trafficking organization, and we are excited to announce our placement of Emily Tracy as Polaris’s new Chief Development Officer. Polaris is a global leader in the fight to eradicate modern slavery. It acts as a catalyst to systematically disrupt the human trafficking networks that rob human beings of their lives and their freedom, working with government leaders, the world’s leading technology corporations, and local partners to identify, report, and prevent human trafficking in all its forms. Polaris has tripled in size over the last 4 years and created a development department with several major supporters, including Google and the W. K. Kellogg Foundation. DRi partnered with Polaris to recruit a high-level Chief Development Officer who could oversee innovation in all its public and private revenue streams, designing and implementing a comprehensive strategy to grow revenue and to sustainably reach a $15 million annual revenue goal in the coming years. After tapping our networks in the international sector and exploring a diverse range of highly-qualified candidates, we recruited Emily Tracy to become Polaris’s new CDO. Emily brings 17 years of development experience to Polaris, including leadership roles at Marymount University, Florida Coastal School of Law, PROVAIL, and The Center for Food Safety. Emily most recently served as National Director of Development for the National Alliance on Mental Illness, where she increased the organization’s annual revenue goal and secured multiple 7-figure gifts from high-level donors, including former Second Lady Tipper Gore. In addition to managing comprehensive fundraising programs, including grants, direct mail campaigns, and major gifts, Emily has been a partner to Boards of Directors in numerous organizations and launched a new foundation with the Board at Florida Coastal School of Law. DRi congratulates both Emily and Polaris and looks forward to their continued success."
